Storefront Improvement Programs

Commercial buildings and businesses within the BIA have access to valuable grant opportunities through the City of Edmonton, including funding for storefront improvements.

The Storefront Improvement Program offers matching reimbursement grants of up to $25,000 for a mid-block building and up to $50,000 for a corner building to help make your building more attractive and to better advertise your business. Your building is part of your branding!

Eligible costs include:

  • Upgrading windows so that they open or have a higher R value
  • Installing new automatic doors
  • New paint and exterior cladding
  • New signage
  • Repairing or adding new awnings
  • Landscaping, bike racks and benches

The Storefront Refresh Program offers a reimbursement grant of up to $1,000 once every five years for smaller renovation projects. Eligible items for reimbursement may include new signs, a fresh coat of paint or installing bike racks on private property.
